Finding My Place in Community Wellness: A New Chapter Begins

Sometimes, the opportunities that come into our lives remind us that our journey has been preparing us for something we may not have fully envisioned.
One of the most exciting developments since my last blog has been beginning my work as a Community Coordinator with the African Caribbean Black (ACB) Wellness Resource Centre. And honestly, it has been amazing.
Stepping into this role has given me an opportunity to contribute in ways that bring together so many aspects of my background: wellness education, community engagement, project coordination, administration, research, relationship-building, and a genuine desire to help people and communities thrive.
What has been especially meaningful is seeing how wellness extends beyond individual practices and personal consultations. It also lives in the spaces we create for one another, the resources we make accessible, the programs we develop, and the systems we put in place to support people and families.
Whether we are working on community initiatives, improving access to resources, developing projects, or finding practical ways to better serve the people who come through our doors, I am reminded that meaningful change often begins with people who care enough to turn ideas into action.
I feel grateful to be learning, contributing, collaborating, and growing in this environment. It has reinforced my belief that my varied experiences and interests can come together in service of something bigger than myself.
This new chapter has also encouraged me to think more deeply about the future of Sacred Garden Alternative Health & Wellness. I see opportunities for greater collaboration between complementary wellness education, traditional herbal knowledge, preventative health education, family wellbeing, and community-based initiatives. I want to continue exploring how these areas can work alongside established health and social services to make wellness knowledge more accessible and relevant to everyday life.
My work with ACB and my vision for Sacred Garden are distinct, but they share an important foundation: a commitment to people, community, education, and wellbeing.
For me, this is more than a new position. It is an opportunity to put my skills to work, discover new possibilities, and continue developing a vision that has been growing within me for years.
I am excited about what lies ahead, and I look forward to sharing more of this journey with you.
